Top 3 Fitness Apps From A Dietitian

As a Registered Dietitian for over 10 years, founder of Bestowed, and marathon runner, Heather Bauer is an expert on healthy living and weight loss. By incorporating fitness apps into her own life and the lives of her clients, she is able to bring her knowledge of nutrition and fitness to the next level. So what apps does a nutritionist recommend? Take a look at Heather’s top fitness apps.

Bon’App-“One of the most important things I have my clients do is to record their intake, and Bon’ App is like an updated version of a food journal. I have my clients track their progress by logging their food on a daily basis so that they have immediate feedback on their calorie count. Some clients even send me pictures of their app so that I can review their diet and progress while they are away or unable to visit for a couple weeks. Another feature I find useful is that you are able to calculate the nutritional value of your own recipes, which is great for nights that you are able to eat at home.”

Fooducate– “Fooducate is like having a nutritionist in your pocket, telling you which foods are good and which are bad. The rating system of A-F is easy for my clients to follow, and gives them immediate feedback on brands while they are food shopping. Although, once in a while, I come across a rating I don’t completely agree with, the app provides a good service to people who don’t know where to start, and they like how easy it is to take pictures of products to get more information about the nutritional value.”

Mapmyrun– “As a mother of 3, I know how hard it can be to exercise after a full day of work. To make sure I keep fitness as a priority in my life, I run from my office in New York City to Harlem, where I take the train home. I use Mapmyrun to track my distance and speed, so that I am constantly improving and ready for the New York City Marathon in November. I also recommend this app to my clients, because incorporating cardio speeds up their weight loss, and they are able to see results faster.”
