Best Fitness Trackers of 2013

With so many fitness band trackers to choose from, it can be difficult to decide which one will work best for you. They are all advertised similarly, but they all look very different. That’s why we’re sharing our picks, to help you figure out which one is perfect for your needs!

For starters, a fitness band is a type of tracker that is worn while performing various everyday activities from cleaning to gym workouts, nutrition, walking and more.  Produced to function alone or combined with a fitness app on your smart phone, fitness bands have become a popular way to track everyday progress toward your fitness goals.

Fitness band apps are designed to sync to your wearable band and they allow you to enter your information such as current weight, height, goals, and your typical activity, dietary intake and other activities performed. They also allow you to view your past history throughout the course of your regimen and give you the option to post your progress to social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

Our Top Fitness Tracker Picks

Nike + Fuelband SE ($149) has a sporty design, but is also available in green, pink and orange in addition to black and rose gold.  It tracks every step and every move that you take throughout the day, and is perfect for those of you who are already fitness oriented and are looking for numbers to prove it.  The Nike+ app also works with the Nike+ games available on Xbox 360.

Fitbit Force ($129.95) has anything you could want from an activity tracker, and it works 24/7. Not only does it track your daily activities such as steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, and stairs climbed throughout the day, it also tracks your sleep at night, which many people forget is an extremely important aspect of health. The Fitbit Force also acts as an alarm clock, because it vibrates to get you going in the morning!

For those that aren’t impressed by the costly fitness bands, reviews are skyrocketing for a similar app – however, it doesn’t require a band at all.  Moves – the iPhone app that allows the tracking of movement without a band functions in a very similar way, but you don’t have to even wear anything on your wrist.  This app isn’t as advanced as the fitness band apps, but it will give you a sense of what your body is actually doing in terms of fitness!
