Fitness apps are steadily becoming more and more popular. Within the health and fitness industry, there is a variety of apps that are very helpful, convenient, and easy to use. I recently came across an app that actually allows you to earn money to be donated to the charity of your choice, through your choice of either: biking, walking, or running.
How it works
Step 1: Download Charity Miles (free) for your iPhone or Android
Step 2: Choice which charity you would like the money you earn to be donated to.
Step 3: Open the app, and either bike, walk, or run.
Charity Miles is very straightforward and easy to use. It tracks miles for you. When you complete a session, the app will offer you a sponsorship for your charity. To accept the sponsorship, you will then be asked to share your achievements, raise awareness for your charity, and to thank your sponsor on Facebook and/or Twitter. Charity Miles isn’t just about biking, walking, or running for your charity is not just about raising money, but also about raising awareness for your charity.
The more miles you pile up, the more money you will earn for your charity. Bikers earn 10 cents per mile, walkers and runners both earn 25 cents per mile, up to a maximum of $1,000,000. The Charity Miles app is certainly one of a kind. It encourages you to be physically active, while simultaneously having the money you earn be donated to a great cause. It’s a win, win situation. It is a great feeling to know that you have helped others, and as an added benefit, you are getting to work out and improve your own physical fitness.
